1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions outline the rules, expectations, obligations, and responsibilities associated with the use of the A Home Painting & Plastering website and the engagement of our painting and plastering services. By visiting our website, submitting an enquiry, or hiring us to complete any form of painting, plastering, or related work, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. These terms are designed to ensure clarity, protect both parties, and promote a professional working relationship. A Home Painting & Plastering reserves the right to update, modify, or revise these terms at any time without prior notice. Any changes will take effect immediately upon being posted on our website.
2. Quotes, Estimates, and Pricing
A Home Painting & Plastering provides free, no-obligation quotes based on the information provided by the client and an on-site assessment. All quotes are valid for fourteen (14) days unless otherwise stated. Pricing is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, project size, surface condition, required preparation work, materials selected, access difficulty, and any additional labour or services not originally specified.
Quotes are provided in good faith; however, if new information arises or hidden damages are uncovered—such as water damage, rot, mould, or structural issues—additional charges may apply. Any changes to project scope requested by the client after the quote has been accepted may also result in updated pricing. All prices quoted include GST unless clearly noted otherwise.
3. Scheduling and Start Dates
Project scheduling will begin once the client formally accepts the quote. A Home Painting & Plastering makes every effort to begin work on the agreed date; however, start dates may be affected by external factors such as weather conditions, job overruns, supplier delays, unforeseen site issues, or emergencies. If any delay occurs, the client will be notified promptly and a new start date will be arranged. The client acknowledges that timelines are estimates and may vary depending on the complexity of the project.
4. Client Responsibilities
To ensure a safe, efficient, and successful work environment, the client agrees to provide suitable access to the property, including driveways, entrances, internal areas, and electrical supply where required. Clients are responsible for removing personal belongings, decorations, delicate items, curtains, blinds, and small furniture before work begins, unless previously arranged with our team. Large furniture can be moved by our team upon request.
The client must ensure pets and children remain clear of the work zone at all times. The client also agrees to disclose any known hazards, structural issues, or pre-existing damage such as leaks, uneven surfaces, asbestos, electrical hazards, or similar concerns.
5. A Home Painting & Plastering Responsibilities
We commit to delivering all services to a professional standard, following industry best practices and New Zealand safety regulations. Our team ensures surfaces are prepared properly, paint is applied correctly, and project areas are kept clean and organised. All paints and materials used are sourced from reputable suppliers and are selected based on quality, durability, and suitability for the intended surface.
We value customer communication and will provide updates throughout the project. If any issue arises that could affect cost, timeline, or outcome, we will discuss it with the client before proceeding.
6. Deposits, Payments, and Invoicing
Some projects may require a deposit to secure materials or lock in scheduling. Full payment is required upon job completion unless otherwise agreed in writing. Invoices will be provided electronically and include GST. Payments may be made via bank deposit, cash, or approved electronic payment methods.
Late payments may result in additional fees, and overdue invoices may be referred to a debt recovery agency. In such cases, the client is responsible for all recovery costs incurred.
For security reasons, we do not store credit card information and will never request payment via unsecured methods.
7. Warranty, Touch-Ups, and Aftercare
A Home Painting & Plastering stands behind the quality of our workmanship and provides a twelve (12) month warranty from the completion date. This warranty covers peeling, blistering, or failure of paint due to poor workmanship. It does not cover damage caused by moisture leaks, structural issues, poor ventilation, movement within the building, extreme weather, or client misuse.
Clients must notify us of any concerns within seven (7) days of project completion to qualify for free touch-ups. Reasonable wear and tear, accidental damage, or client modifications are not covered under warranty.
8. Health & Safety Compliance
We follow all New Zealand health and safety laws and take appropriate measures to ensure a safe working environment. If a site is deemed unsafe, work may be paused until hazards are resolved. Clients must inform our team of any known hazards before work begins. Hazardous materials such as asbestos must be disclosed and professionally removed before we commence work.
9. Changes, Cancellations, and Rescheduling
Cancellations must be submitted at least forty‑eight (48) hours before the scheduled start date. Late cancellations may result in a cancellation fee, especially if materials have already been ordered or scheduled time has been allocated. If the client requests changes during the project that affect scope or materials, an updated quote or variation order will be issued.
A Home Painting & Plastering may reschedule work if weather or conditions create a risk to safety or project quality.
10. Damage, Liability, and Limitations
While every effort is made to protect client property, A Home Painting & Plastering is not responsible for pre-existing structural issues, hidden damage, or conditions such as loose gib, rot, mould, leaks, or movement that affect final results. Our liability is limited to the value of the services provided. We are not responsible for indirect losses, delays, or consequential damages.
Accidental damage caused by our team will be repaired or compensated appropriately.
11. Use of Project Photos and Media
With the client’s consent, A Home Painting & Plastering may take before-and-after photos for marketing or portfolio purposes. No identifying details such as address, client names, or sensitive information will ever be displayed without explicit permission.
12. Privacy Policy & Data Handling
Client information collected through website forms, emails, or phone calls is used solely for the purpose of communication, service delivery, and customer support. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties except where required to comply with New Zealand law. All data is stored securely and handled in accordance with best practices.

14. Governing Law
